Back to school!

BEFORE:

It's back to school time already! I seriously can't believe it, as much as I was looking forward to this day, it was bittersweet.

Saying goodbye to Tyler was probably harder for me than him. He looked a little uncomfortable when I said goodbye, like he didn't know what to expect. I felt a tinge of sadness that my little boy was leaving me to venture on to school. I will miss his sense of humor and his sensitive and sweet nature.

Brooklyn looked a tiny bit nervous too, but a little excited, somewhere underneath it all. She on the other hand knows what to expect, and I'm sure is anticipating new friends and fun things. I will miss her maturity around the house. She can always be counted on to help me, not matter what I'm doing.

I'll complete this with more after 1:50 pm...

This is the AFTER shot... all smiles (YEAH)!!! (this is after school, a celebration trip to SONIC, and a snack)

First comments from the first day of school:

She said: "In 2nd grade we don't really have to do any work..." we'll see... ;)

He said: "You said I could walk by myself, ALL by myself." That's why he wanted that compass Jeff's mom bought, to find his way home from school... not that I would let him go by himself...

Jones Reunion 2008

Grammy is obviously a very good story teller to captivate this audience for any amount of time!

WOW!-Wait, is that the popsicle? or the pecs on my super muscular husband..?

straight outta Texas!

We had a blast these past few weeks with the Jones family in Ca. There was a fun day at the Aquarium, a fun day at the pool, and many fun days at the beach!!! We got to make sand castles, ride BIG waves, get a special tutorial from Chris on boogie boarding, eat yummy food, and most of all be with family we love.

Going to Grammy and Grampy's house is SOOOOOOOO much fun!

in San Clemente, on the beach...here we are, silly faces and all!

Great-great aunt Sally is such a joy! Lily really bonded with her and just could not stop hugging her. What a beauty, at 90 years old!!!

Savior of the World

We took our family to Austin this weekend to see the musical "Savior of the World."
I didn't know anything about it, except it was some kind of church production. I was completely amazed to find out that the cast, crew members, and orchestra consisted almost entirely of youth.

The youth of the Austin stake, some living more than 30 minutes away from the stage they practiced and performed on. They all did this for free, the tickets were free, and they even had to rent out a huge performing arts stage to showcase the musical properly. Amazing! Those kids gave a commendable performance. They started practicing for this last August! To think how many hours they put into it...

It was a two part play, based first on the birth of Christ, secondly on his resurrection. What a wonderful opportunity for the youth to show their friends how they feel about the Savior, and to strengthen their own testimonies. It was such a great musical to take our kids to, I know they felt the spirit and could follow the simple story of our Savior and his role on earth.

This is a picture from the original showing of the musical at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

Besides this, we also saw the BATS in Austin. They were cool, I was afraid they would come too close, but no need to fear, they were way above the tree tops. (We were wondering if we needed an umbrella... think of walking under that many birds... same problem, we were fine though) Watching literally millions of bats fly out from under a bridge is NO everyday sighting!
