Coonster.

Why do we call him that? Who knows. Jeff comes up with all the crazy nick names, we just use them. Tyler has arrived at 6. It feels like we've been waiting on this forever. I just kept forgetting he was only 5.

Tyler is pure joy. His smile could light up the darkest day. His eyes twinkle. His grin is mischievous. His laugh is a belly chuckle. His hugs are love.

This guy just makes me laugh, A LOT! His brain is very random. That might sounds weird, but he definitely thinks differently. It was the 100th day of school the other day and they made a 100 book. They were supposed to write 100 things they would want... of course Tyler said, "100 DS's." Yes, we are the only parents in America who have not bought their kids a DS, Wii, or any other game system. BUT, the really good part was 100 things Tyler did not want... just guess. You never would in a million years...reindeer brains. Nope, I don't want any of that either,no thank you. He's just random (could I substitute the word creative and have it sound like a better quality?)like that. He takes language very literally and so we are always laughing at things he thinks we are saying. Like when I told my friend that Joaquin Phoenix looked like a bum (definition---homeless person) on the late night show, Tyler says, "MOM---YOU JUST SAID SOMEONE LOOKED LIKE A BUM!" He was horrified I would say that, so I had to tell him about homonyms.

Anyway, we love him so. He is the most gentle sweet boy. He loves babies, way more than his two sisters. He treats his sisters well and protects them at all costs, of course, unless he's mad at them. He has a smile that goes from San Fransisco to New York. And then there are his lips... I love the lips. He has a Buddha belly and I rub it daily, usually when he asleep. He used to love to cuddle with me, but he is 6 now, and of course that is not cool forever. He DEFINITELY will not let me kiss him in public anymore. That stopped being cool awhile ago. I still do. He just wipes it off. He loves treasure, rocks, gems, cars, balloons, cookies, eyeballs, magnifying glasses, potions, just about anything a little boy should love.

He makes inventions daily. He actually has such an inventive mind that I really see him going somewhere with it someday. He will be my Mr. Fix it. He will be the next great scientist. He will be the next great Engineer or architect. (If he takes after his Papa or his Grandpa) Sorry, Jeff, I really don't see Tyler ever going into Accounting, he's not as detail oriented as you are... For Christmas he wanted a "Work Shop" like Santa to build stuff. My mom said, "Yeah, Papa wants that too" :) He is creative, loving, fun, bright, and my favorite son! Happy Birthday Tyler! love, Mom

Birthday party post coming soon...

XOXO

My favorite V-day snip its...

The one liner on the NERDS card that holds the box of candy.
"LoVe the NERD you're with!"- my favorite!!!

a 5 year old's version of Valentines : "Mom, today is the day when all the love bugs come out."... yes, the love bugs do like PDA, but it's actually in September. I love the way his little brain works!

Watching Brooklyn address her Valentine cards last night I had a very long ago memory resurface. I had forgotten how important it was to address your best friends' cards first, and of course your crush's! Just to make sure they get the best ones... I chuckled as I watched Brooklyn address specific names off her list first. What pleasures it gives us to give our best friends little surprises!

Tyler bringing me a Valentine with little red hearts all over that he drew for me. That melted my heart.

Watching Tyler "show-off" Lily to all his friends at his party and take her around like she was his best friend in the WHOLE wide world. There is nothing more a mother could possibly want, than to see her children loving each other so much.
Saying goodbye to Lily this morning and having Lily come back again for a second hug and kiss and to know that I am LOVED!

Words the have the long "e" sound

This was part of Brooklyn's homework... a little easy, but still homework. She had to come up with 8 words that had the long "e" sound, and I forbid the using of plural just to get another word... so she was really thinking! The funny part was one of the words she came up with, I'm not sure if it works... but it definitely describes her generation. Wii. yep, it does have the long "e" sound, who knows why, but it's there!

I'm going to add a little post-blog note. As I was putting Brooklyn to bed, I asked if anything interesting happened at school today (I do this every night, it's the only way to pull info. out.)

She said, "Yes, we did "power" something..." I said, "POWER POINT?" "Yes", she replied... it's an "All About Me" powerpoint presentation... OK, REALLY, in 2nd grade? WOWSERS! I can't believe that, but I'm so grateful, because if she had to learn based on her mama's skills, we'd be up a creek.

So, Wii has a long "e" sound, and she can now make a powerpoint presentation, I think they really are learning things at this new school of ours!
