a decade

Jeff is ever the thoughtful husband, and did not disappoint this time. We have talked for years what we would do for our tenth wedding anniversary. Our grand plans included a cruise, a trip to the carribbean, a trip to Spain, and lots of wonderful ideas. Life got in the way. After a surgery, a car accident, a pregnancy and a family reunion soon, we're not quite in the right place now for a big trip. Jeff did plan a special surprise night out!

If you've ever been to America's you know it's a rare treat. It is a Latin restaurant (it claims to mix North, South and Central American cuisine to come up with New World cuisine) with delicacies and delicioso steak. We went one time when his first firm recruited us, and I've talked about and compared ever since then. All I remembered was the steak, the quail taquito and the tres leches. I didn't need to repeat the quail. The churrasco steak is melt in your mouth good. I've never met its rival. I've had other churrasco sauces since, but never quite as good. We had yummy sides of grilled asparagus, rum plantains, some kind of patatas, and topped it off with the best Tres Leches cake north of the Rio Grande! Even Jeff, who doesn't really care for desserts half the time, was in heaven with this creamy wet cake. The night was a splurge well enjoyed!

We spent the night at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. It was very tree house-ish feeling, like a lodge in the woods. Very fun and relaxing. The pool is awesome and has big water slides, we plan to bring the kids here sometime in the summer to have some family time before the baby is born. The breakfast was amazing too! It was one of those: any possible yummy thing you could think of for breakfast. We tried a bunch of stuff, how in the world I didn't over eat, I don't know, but it was DELUXE!

It was short, and sweet but we escaped the world to celebrate us. The ten adventurous years we have been together. It has brought us college degrees, internships, 2 jobs, 2 temporary housing arrangments, 2 houses, 3 1/2 children, many friends and lots of love. Looking forward to many more decades of fun with Jeff.

Did I read that right that you're pregnant? If so, congrats!

Happy 10th Anniversary...you guys are a great couple. I almost forgot we are on a very similar timeline. The exotic trip we were planning for our 10th got pushed back for an upcoming getwaway to our hospital OB room:).
