We had a blast camping with my family (minus David, he has finals this week)! The cousins had so much fun with each other, and this was actually my kids first time camping. Went to a really pretty military campground called Fort Sam Houston. It was gorgeous, complete with mountains, (we didn't know they got that big in Texas) and a huge lake and a tremendous view!
We don't know why we've never been as a family before, but I'm guessing it has something to do with Texas not being especially conducive to camping...bugs, humidity, heat... But, we were in SUPER nice cottages and had all the accommodations you could ask for, including one very noisy air conditioner, but thank goodness for it, because it was a whopping, record breaking 97'.
We enjoyed the paddle boats, the man made beach on the lake and the fun playgrounds. Brooklyn loved the playgrounds, she was having so much fun her face was a bright fuschia from the heat. The fishing was fun for a little while, but we never figured out why the fish weren't biting our bait, they seemed to love the guys fishing around us... The most excitement occurred when the teenagers at the beach caught a big turtle that was swimming in the lake and let everyone touch it, Tyler LOVED that. Personally, it freaked me out a little... now I know exactly what it was that brushed against my leg underneath the water. Lily personally enjoyed the pink marshmallows, (they sure have come a long way, but I'm still a fan of the original, kind of like PEEPS---stick to the yellow chicks people!!!)
Anyway, thanks to mom and dad for finding such a fun place and for Lauren for driving there by herself with the two boys. We sure enjoyed it!

What a fun vacation! That turtle would have kept me out of the water the rest of the trip!
